GCFP Scholarships

The Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania offers ten (10) scholarships annually, each a minimum of $1,000.00, to deserving high school and college students who plan to further their education in horticulture, floriculture, landscape architecture, conservation, forestry, botany, agronomy, plant pathology, environmental control, city planning, land management and/or allied subjects. Students must be Pennsylvania residents, but they may attend college in any state. A local garden club must sponsor applicants. Our Scholarship Chairman can assist applicants with locating a local garden club to sponsor them. Funding is received from donations to the Scholarship Fund, State Life Memberships, and bequests. Judging is based on need, scholastic records, character, initiative and personal recommendations. Applications are reviewed and judged by the Scholarship Committee of The Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania. Winners are announced at the Annual State Convention held in the spring of each year. Deadline for application for State Scholarships is February 15.

Those who are eligible and wish to be considered a nominee from Pennsylvania for a National Scholarship must obtain the National Scholarship Application Forms from our State Scholarship Chairman.

National Garden Clubs, Inc., offers 32 annual advanced scholarships to junior, senior or graduate students, each grant totaling $3,500 for the academic year. Applicants must be majoring in horticulture, floriculture, landscape design, conservation, forestry, agronomy, city planning, environmental concerns, land management, botany, biology, or other allied subjects.

The Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania is entitled to submit one nominee for the National Garden Clubs, Inc., scholarships annually. The National Application Form must be submitted to the State Chairman. If the student becomes a State winner, they may be selected to be the State's nominee for a National Scholarship. The State Chairman will submit the National Application of that student at the appropriate time.
