Now-Labor Day, 2008--There is something in the air at Longwood Gardens this spring as the horticultural showplace debuts Nature’s Castles, a spectacular display of grand treehouses especially designed for Longwood. Guests are invited to climb trees in style as they explore three large-scale treehouses designed by the country’s best treehouse designers. The display opens April 25, as part of Longwood’s Arbor Day Weekend activities and continues through Labor Day. May 10, 2008--The Junior Gardeners of the Four Seasons Garden Club of Kennett Square, will host their annual plant sale. The sale will be held at the Genesis Walkway located at 101 E. State Street (Route 1), the main business section of Kennett Square, from 8:00 A.M. until 12:00 noon. The funds raised will be donated to an international relief organization. May 17, 2008--Hanover Garden Club will dedicate a Blue Star By-Way Marker at the "V" monument in Mt. Olivet Cemetery's Veterans Memorial Garden, 725 Baltimore Street, Hanover, PA, on Armed Forces Day,. The 9 a.m. ceremony, open to the public, will include members of the Allied Veterans Honor Guard; Dorothy Yard, President of the Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania; Marilyn Whitmore, Central Atlantic Region Director; and Carol Dyas, President of Hanover Garden Club. May 17 & 18, 2008--Indiana Garden Club will host their 33nd Annual May Mart. The event will be held at the S&T Bank Arena, in the White Township Recreation Complex, Indiana, PA. There will be greenhouse, craft & food vendors, gardening demonstrations from PA Master Gardeners, crafts for kids, the members’ Orphan’s Court for plants from their gardens, strawberry pie & mushroom sandwiches, and most of all, FUN. The event is open to the public, no admission charge, & free parking. The area around the arena and inside is handicapped accessible. Thru-September 28, 2008--Treehouse enthusiasts will also want to visit Tyler Arboretum’s Totally Terrific Treehouses. The exhibit, running from May 31- September 28, features tree houses created by local artisans amidst Tyler Arboretum’s ancient woodlands. From the whimsical to the educational, each exhibit is designed to appeal to the child in all of us and inspire wonder and appreciation for trees. Tyler Arboretum is located in Media, PA. June 28, 2008--The Mifflin County Garden Club will proudly present it's 2008 Garden Tour, rain or shine. Our tour will include eight outstanding private gardens. This is a great opportunity to get innovative gardening ideas as well as to meet and talk to the gardeners. Hours are from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. June 17, 2008--The Penn-Cumberland Garden Club will host its Annual Rose Luncheon at the West Shore Country Club, 100 Brentwater Road, Camp Hill, Pa. The social hour will begin at 11:00 a.m. After the luncheon a program: “ ART IN BLOOM”, the art of arranging flowers in the Modern Design, will be presented by Patricia Bilson. Ms. Bilson is as National Garden Club Master Flower Show judge, American Rose Society Master Rosarian. She is President of the Oakbourne Garden Club and Vice president of the Philadelphia Rose Society.
